Επιτάχυνση παρουσίασε η ανάπτυξη στις ΗΠΑ το δεύτερο τρίμηνο του έτους, καθώς οι ισχυρές καταναλωτικές δαπάνες αντιστάθμισαν τις αδύναμες επιχειρηματικές δαπάνες για εξοπλισμό.
Σύμφωνα με τα στοιχεία που έδωσε στη δημοσιότητα το αμερικανικό υπουργείο Εργασίας, το ΑΕΠ επεκτάθηκε κατά 2,3% σε ετήσια βάση.
Εν τω μεταξύ, τα στοιχεία για το ΑΕΠ πρώτου τριμήνου αναθεωρήθηκαν σε ανάπτυξη 0,6% έναντι συρρίκνωσης 0,2% που είχε αρχικά ανακοινωθεί.
Ξεχωριστά στοιχεία που δόθηκαν στη δημοσιότητα έδειξαν ότι οι αιτήσεις για επίδομα ανεργίας αυξήθηκαν κατά 12.000 την περασμένη εβδομάδα και διαμορφώθηκαν στις 267.000.
