epa03257930 FILE - File photo of former Alcatraz Prison in the middle of San Francisco Bay in San Francisco, California, USA, 05 October 2009. 'Wanted' posters were issued by the US Marshals in Washington DC, USA, 07 June 2012, of fugitives Frank Morris, and brothers John and Clarence Anglin. The US Marshals have also included a computerized rendition of how they may look in 2012 if still alive. They are the only men to escape from Alcatraz Island in San Francisco, California, who remain unaccounted for. The three escaped on 11 June 1962, after having burrowed through their cells, by means of a makeshift raft. The case was closed by the FBI on 31 December 1979, after a 17-year investigation, but remains open for the US Marshals and there is still an active warrant for them. EPA/MATT CAMPBELL

Silicon Valley's capital city San Jose, California as seen in this aerial photo is undergoing an urban development revolution calculated to keep it as the thriving heart of a region renowned for technological innovation. The city is working to reverse a trend in which promising startups take root in suburbs and neighboring cities such as Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Cupertino -- the homes of Google, Yahoo and Apple respectively. Districts brimming with high-density housing are now blossoming near downtown office towers. There are 32,000 units in or near the city center and "enterprise incubation centers" have sprung up to nurture start-ups in the areas of software, bioscience, environment and market access.
