Η χώρα μας βρέθηκε στην 33η θέση παγκοσμίως -σύμφωνα με την έρευνα- από την 34η θέση που είχε το 2023.
Για τον περασμένο χρόνο, οι στρατιωτικές δαπάνες της Ελλάδας έφτασαν τα 8 δισ. δολάρια, παρουσιάζοντας άνοδο 11% σε ετήσιο επίπεδο. Από το 2015 έως το 2024 οι στρατιωτικές δαπάνες της Ελλάδας αυξήθηκαν 45%.
Ως ποσοστό επί του ΑΕΠ, οι δαπάνες της Ελλάδας έφτασαν για το 2024 το 3,1% ενώ το 2015 ήταν στο 2,5%.
Σημειώνεται πως η Τουρκία δαπάνησε για το 2024 25 δισ. δολάρια σε στρατιωτικές δαπάνες, φτάνοντας στην 17η θέση της παγκόσμιας λίστας από την 19η θέση το 2023.
Η παγκόσμια εικόνα
Το SIPRI αναφέρει πως οι παγκόσμιες στρατιωτικές δαπάνες έφτασαν τα 2,718 τρισ. δολάρια το 2024, σημειώνοντας αύξηση 9,4% σε πραγματικούς όρους από το 2023 και την πιο απότομη ετήσια αύξηση τουλάχιστον από το τέλος του Ψυχρού Πολέμου.
Οι στρατιωτικές δαπάνες αυξήθηκαν σε όλες τις περιοχές του κόσμου, με ιδιαίτερα ταχεία αύξηση τόσο στην Ευρώπη όσο και στη Μέση Ανατολή.
Οι πέντε χώρες με τις υψηλότερες στρατιωτικές δαπάνες -οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες, η Κίνα, η Ρωσία, η Γερμανία και η Ινδία- αντιπροσώπευαν το 60% του παγκόσμιου συνόλου, με συνολικές δαπάνες ύψους 1,635 τρισ. δολαρίων.
Ακολουθούν οι 10 χώρες με τις μεγαλύτερες στρατιωτικές δαπάνες για το 2024.
