Ο Sotheby’s επιστρέφει με νέα διαδικτυακή δημοπρασία «I Have to Stay at Home» (Βίντεο)

Μετά την κατάρριψη ρεκόρ εσόδων σε διαδικτυακή δημοπρασία τον περασμένο μήνα, ο οίκος Sotheby’s ανακοίνωσε μια νέα online πώληση έργων τέχνης εμπνευσμένων από τον αποκλεισμό που προκάλεσε η πανδημία του κορωνοϊού.

Με τίτλο «I Have to Stay at Home» η δημοπρασία διοργανώθηκε μέσα σε μόλις τρεις εβδομάδες, με τους επιμελητές του οίκου Sotheby’s να εντοπίζουν όλα τα έργα τέχνης στο Λονδίνο και να τα θέτουν προς πώληση στο παγκόσμιο κοινό.

//AUCTION ANNOUNCEMENT// Named after Martin Kippenberger’s eponymous artwork, ‘I have to stay at home’ is a curated auction for lockdown. Kippenberger created his work whilst in convalescence in Europe. It is a nostalgic tribute to forgotten days in the summer sun; an ode to the heady weeks he had spent in Rio de Janeiro with Albert Oehlen. In the same way, we have built this sale in isolation, trapped in our home offices; dreaming of unrestricted travel, crowded gallery openings, and busy auction rooms. One team, One Dream. – ➡️ One of my favourite works in the sale is by the doyenne of British Art, Bridget Riley. ‘Measure for Measure’ is part of her recent series ‘Disc Paintings’, an advancement of her work in the early 70s and inspired by the pointillist Georges Seurat for whom she has been long associated with. That at 89 years young, Riley is still exploring her optical investigations is extraordinary. Like all her best works, Measure for Measure synthesises colour, composition and form, whilst confronting themes of perception. This painting projects a refined sensation of movement that really demands an intimate and personal engagement. The interaction of each subtle colour vibrates, projecting a sensation of constant movement – a subtle melody; etching each glimpse, each small pulse into our visual memory. This interaction of form and colour is so critical in Riley’s work. When Riley introduced the use of colour into her work in 1967- a departure from the black-and-white paintings- she said, ‘colour inevitably leads you to the world outside…”, and I find that so true here. Ο τίτλος της δημοπρασίας προέρχεται από την επιγραφή στο έργο του 1986 του Martin Kippenberger, με τίτλο «Copa und Ipa» το οποίο είναι διαθέσιμο για υποβολή προσφορών. Ο καλλιτέχνης δημιούργησε το κολάζ, ενώ ήταν σε ανάρρωση στην Ευρώπη.

Είναι ένα νοσταλγικό αφιέρωμα σε ξεχασμένες μέρες στον καλοκαιρινό ήλιο, μια ωδή στις έντονες εβδομάδες που είχε περάσει στο Ρίο ντε Τζανέιρο με τον Albert Oehlen τον προηγούμενο χρόνο. Στην επιγραφή γράφει «Ich muβ zuhause bleiben» (I Have to Stay at Home).

Πρόκειται για την έκτη διαδικτυακή δημοπρασία έργων σύγχρονης τέχνης που διοργάνωσε ο Sotheby’s από την έναρξη του αποκλεισμού λόγω της πανδημίας, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της πώλησης τον περασμένο μήνα στη Νέα Υόρκη, με έσοδα πάνω από 13 εκατομμύρια δολάρια – ποσό διπλάσιο του προηγούμενου ρεκόρ του οίκου σε διαδικτυακή δημοπρασία.

Ο πίνακας «Woman with Golden Hair» (Η Γυναίκα με τα Χρυσά Μαλλιά» (2018), του George Kondo που εκτιμάται ότι θα πουληθεί γύρω στα 1,4 εκατομμύρια δολάρια είναι το κορυφαίο έργο της δημοπρασίας. Το έργο του καλλιτέχνη «Antipodal Reunion» πουλήθηκε έναντι 1,3 εκατομμυρίων δολαρίων στη δημοπρασία του περασμένου μήνα.

Άλλα σημαντικά έργα της δημοπρασίας είναι το χάλκινο γλυπτό του Τζεφ Κουνς το 1985 «Snorkel» (Generic), η τιμή του οποίου εκτιμάται ότι φτάνει τα 140.000 δολάρια, η μεταξοτυπία του Άντι Γουόρχολ με τον Κλιντ Ίστγουντ, η οποία εκτιμάται ότι θα πουληθεί έως και 300.000 δολάρια και ένα γλυπτό ρητίνης του 2006 του Ανίς Καπούρ, το οποίο θα μπορούσε να πουληθεί έως και 180.000 δολάρια.

Η δημοπρασία θα διαρκέσει έως τις 28 Μαΐου.
