Η βιομηχανία του Χόλιγουντ είναι η παλαιότερη κινηματογραφική βιομηχανία στον κόσμο, ωστόσο, πέρυσι, η κινεζική κινηματογραφική βιομηχανία ξεπέρασε εκείνη της Βόρειας Αμερικής και έγινε η μεγαλύτερη αγορά εισιτηρίων στον κόσμο, με 1.813 ταινίες μεγάλου μήκους να παράγονται σε ετήσια βάση.
