Το Αμερικανικό Ινστιτούτο Κινηματογράφου (AFI) δημοσίευσε τη λίστα 10 κορυφαίων ταινιών του 2018. Η ετήσια επιλογή ειδικών και κριτικών κινηματογράφου θεωρείται ο προάγγελος των βραβείων Αμερικανικής Ακαδημίας Κινηματογράφου, καθώς συνήθως πολλά φιλμ από τη λίστα του AFI είναι επίσης μεταξύ των υποψηφίων για Όσκαρ στην κορυφαία κατηγορία Καλύτερης Ταινίας.
Εκτός λίστας βρίσκεται το Roma σε σενάριο και σκηνοθεσία του Μεξικανού, Αλφόνσο Κουαρόν μεγάλου νικητή του φετινού Φεστιβάλ Βενετίας.
