Ο αντίκτυπος της πανδημίας στον κύκλο εργασιών των αεροπορικών εταιρειών για το 2020 υπολογίζεται στα 286 δισ. ευρώ, τη στιγμή που μερικές από τις μεγαλύτερες αεροπορικές εξασφάλισαν τη λήψη κρατικής βοήθειας με δάνεια σε μια προσπάθεια να διαδωθούν. Ο τζίρος, μάλιστα, των αεροπορικών συρρικνώθηκε κατά 55% σε σχέση με το 2019. Συγκεκριμένα, η Γαλλία θα δώσει 9 δισ. ευρώ για να σώσει την Air France, ενώ η Ολλανδία υπολογίζει πως η διάσωση της KLM ανέρχεται σε 11 δισ. ευρώ. Η Lufthansa χρειάζεται 9 δισ. ευρώ για να «πάρει ανάσα», ενώ η Swiss και η Edelweiss Air στην Ελβετία χρειάζονται συνολικά 1,2 δισ. ευρώ για να ορθοποδήσουν. Η Condor στη Γερμανία θα λάβει κρατική στήριξη ύψους 555 εκατ. ευρώ και η Air New Zealand στη Ζηλανδία 479 εκατ. ευρώ.

Σε όλο αυτό το κλίμα, φυσικά, οι απολύσεις και οι περικοπές δεν άργησαν να έρθουν τόσο από τις αεροπορικές όσο και από τους κατασκευαστές αεροσκαφών. Συγκεκριμένα, η Boeing προχώρησε σε απολύσεις 16.000 ανθρώπων, η General Electric σε 12.600 και η Rolls-Royce σε 9.000 απολύσεις.

All the 173 passengers were disembarked safely, while the threat was checked.
