Η νίκη του οδηγού της Red Bull μπορεί να έφερε για πρώτη φορά το κύπελλο στην Ολλανδία, όμως υπάρχουν χώρες με μακρά παράδοση στην κορυφή της F1.
Η Formula 1 έχει νέο πρωταθλητή. Σε ηλικία 24 ετών και 2 μηνών, ο Verstappen είναι ο τρίτος νεότερος πρωταθλητής στην ιστορία της F1 πίσω από τον Sebastian Vettel (2010: 23 ετών, 4 μηνών) και τον Hamilton (2008: 23 ετών, 10 μηνών).
Πριν από την έναρξη του Grand Prix, Verstappen και Hamilton ήταν ισόβαθμοι στη γενική κατάταξη και όποιος τερμάτιζε πρώτος θα στεφόταν παγκόσμιος πρωταθλητής. Η νίκη του οδηγού της Red Bull μπορεί να έφερε για πρώτη φορά το κύπελλο στην Ολλανδία, όμως υπάρχουν χώρες με μακρά παράδοση στην κορυφή της F1.
