Δεν είναι άγνωστο πως όταν κάποιος φτάσει σε ένα υψηλό επαγγελματικό επίπεδο, τα αθλήματα πληρώνουν. Και πληρώνουν πολύ καλά! Αναρωτηθήκατε ποτέ πόσα χρήματα κερδίζουν οι αγαπημένοι μας αθλητές ενώ εμείς τους παρακολουθούμε από τον καναπέ;
Αν και τα κέρδη τους επλήγησαν από την κρίση της πανδημίας του κορωνοϊού, η οποία έπληξε και τον αθλητισμό, τα ποσά ακόμη φαντάζουν αστρονομικά για τους περισσότερους από εμάς.
Η λίστα των πιο ακριβοπληρωμένων αναπτύχθηκε με βάση τα έσοδα από συμβόλαια, χορηγίες, πριμ, διαφημίσεις και όποια άλλη πηγή εσόδου είχε ο κάθε αθλητής. Τα τελικά νούμερα προσαρμόστηκαν στον πληθωρισμό της εποχής που αφορούσαν, ώστε να μπορούν να είναι συγκρίσιμα μεταξύ τους, αφού αφορούν διαφορετικές χρονικές περιόδους.
