Η πανδημία του κορωνοϊού συνεχίζει να πλήττει πολλές χώρες ανά τον κόσμο.
Λίγο περισσότερο από 15 μήνες μετά την πανδημία του κορωνοϊού, η Βραζιλία πέρασε ένα ζοφερό ορόσημο την Κυριακή. Το πιο πυκνοκατοικημένο μέρος στη Νότια Αμερική έγινε η δεύτερη χώρα στον κόσμο που ξεπέρασε το μισό εκατομμύριο θανάτους από κορωνοϊό.
Όπως θα δούμε στην παρακάτω λίστα, οι ΗΠΑ έχουν πληγεί περισσότερο από την πανδημία όσον αφορά τις συνολικές ζωές που χάθηκαν. Από τις 20 Ιουνίου 2021, οι θάνατοι από COVID στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες ανήλθαν σε πάνω από 600.000.
Το γεγονός ότι η Κολομβία και το Περού έχουν ενταχθεί στη λίστα των χωρών που πλήττονται περισσότερο, υπογραμμίζει τον ρόλο της Λατινικής Αμερικής ως το νέο σημείο εξάπλωσης της πανδημίας στον κόσμο.
Η εξέταση των θανάτων ανά 100.000 κατοίκους δείχνει πόσο σκληρά χτυπήθηκε κάθε χώρα από τον κορωνοϊό. Ωστόσο, πρέπει να υπογραμμιστεί ότι το εξαιρετικά χαμηλό ποσοστό 28 θανάτων της Ινδίας* ανά 100.000 άτομα εξηγεί γιατί οι διεθνείς εμπειρογνώμονες υγείας έχουν σοβαρές αμφιβολίες για τα επίσημα στοιχεία της χώρας.
